π Devotional of the Day
The expectation of Jesusβ Second Coming is not only a thought for special moments, but an attitude that shapes all of life. Jesus calls His disciples to be readyβnot out of fear, but from a living relationship with Him.
Readiness does not mean knowing everything or being perfect. It means living with God, trusting Him, and remaining open to His work. It is a life consciously oriented toward what is essential.
The image of watchfulness reminds us that we should not live our lives unconsciously. It invites us to be attentiveβto Godβs voice, to His guidance, and to what truly matters.
β¨ A Life in Expectation
Expectation changes the way we live. Those who know that Christ is coming will shape their lives consciously. Priorities shift, and what truly matters moves to the center.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βThe expectation of Christβs Second Coming has a purifying effect on heart and life.β
(Maranatha, p. 56)
This expectation is not burdensome, but clarifying and orienting.
πΏ Watchful in Daily Life
Watchfulness is not shown in extraordinary moments, but in everyday life. It means staying connected with God, even when many things are happening around us.
It is a quiet but steady life with Himβmarked by trust and attentiveness.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βA watchful life is a life that constantly stands in the presence of God.β
(Christβs Object Lessons, p. 48)
ποΈ Ready Without Restlessness
Readiness and inner peace do not exclude each other. Those who live with God may wait in peace. It is not about pressure, but about trust.
This attitude gives stability. It helps us not to be ruled by outward circumstances, but to remain inwardly firm.
π Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
help me to live in expectation of Your coming.
Keep my heart watchful
and my relationship with You alive.
Give me peace in expectation
and clarity in my life.
Guide me every day
and keep me ready for You.
Amen.
