π June 4 β The Son of Man Before the Father: Christ in the Heavenly Judgment
Monthly theme: The Heavenly Judgment β Justice and Grace
Yearly theme 2026: βSoon the King Is Coming β Hope Beyond the Endβ
π Central Bible Text of the Day
βI saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him.β
βDaniel 7:13
π Devotional of the Day
The vision of the prophet Daniel is one of the most impressive scenes in the entire Bible. After Daniel has seen the successive world empires, his gaze suddenly turns away from the earth and toward heaven. There he sees the throne of God, the assembled angels, and the beginning of the judgment.
In the midst of this mighty scene, a person appears whom Daniel calls the βSon of Man.β This Son of Man is Jesus Christ. He comes before the Father and takes a central place in the heavenly judgment.
Many people imagine the judgment as a process in which they stand alone before God. But the Bible presents a different picture. At the center of the judgment is not humanity, but Christ. He is the one who intercedes for his people. He is the one who purchased redemption. And he is the one to whom all power and dominion will finally be given.
This scene shows us that the judgment is ultimately a revelation of Christβs victory. The enemy does not have the last word. The powers of this world do not have the last word. Jesus receives the kingdom that will never pass away.
β¨ The Center of Heaven
Often we turn our eyes toward ourselves β toward our weaknesses, mistakes, and inadequacies. But Daniel directs our eyes to Christ.
In the heavenly judgment, the focus is not our worthiness, but the worthiness of the Redeemer.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βChrist appears before God on behalf of His people and presents the case of all who trust in Him.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 480)
In this way, the judgment becomes a message of hope.
πΏ A Kingdom for the Redeemed
Daniel sees not only Christ standing before the Father. He also sees that dominion, honor, and an eternal kingdom are given to Him.
This means that the history of this world is moving toward a goal. Godβs plan will be completed. The kingdoms of this earth come and go, but the kingdom of Christ remains forever.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βThe kingdom of Christ will outlast all earthly kingdoms and finally replace them.β
(Prophets and Kings, p. 535)
This certainty gives stability in an uncertain world.
ποΈ Hope in the Judgment
For Godβs children, the judgment is not a message of terror. It is the announcement that Christ appears as Victor.
The One who was once sacrificed as the Lamb will be revealed as King. And those who trust in Him may share in His victory.
π Prayer
Dear Father in heaven,
thank You that Jesus stands at the center of the heavenly judgment.
Thank You that my hope does not rest on myself, but on my Redeemer.
Help me to fix my eyes on Christ and to trust Him more each day.
Give me peace in knowing that He intercedes for me and that He will soon establish His kingdom.
Let my heart be full of hope in the coming King.
Amen.
