🌱 GROWING IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

πŸ‘‘ Lesson 13: Into Eternity

πŸ“˜ 13.5 β€œCome!”

God’s final invitation and our response

πŸ“– 1. Introduction

The Bible ends with an invitation full of love and hope: β€œCome!” This invitation is addressed to every person, regardless of their past, mistakes, or situation. God does not wait for us to become perfect before we come to Him. He invites us to come to Him now and accept His grace. At the same time, the promise resounds that Jesus will come again soon. Therefore, the final words of the Bible uniquely unite invitation and hope.

πŸ“œ 2. The Biblical Foundation

Jesus says:

β€œCome to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matt. 11:28)

And in Revelation 22 we read:

β€œAnd the Spirit and the bride say, β€˜Come!’” (Rev. 22:17)

God invites all who are thirsty to receive the water of life freely. This invitation runs through the entire Bible and reaches its climax on the final pages of Holy Scripture.

🌍 3. Connection to Our Time

Many people are searching for peace, meaning, and hope. They try to fill the emptiness within through success, relationships, or material things. But none of these can satisfy the deepest thirst of the heart. Jesus alone offers the living water that fulfills permanently. His invitation is just as valid today as it was then and remains the answer to the deepest needs of humanity.

πŸ’‘ 4. Central Message of the Lesson

πŸ‘‰ Jesus invites every person to come to Him, accept His grace, and live in the hope of His return.

✝️ 5. Theological Focus

The invitation β€œCome!” reveals the heart of God. From the beginning to the end of the Bible, God seeks fellowship with human beings. Already after the fall into sin, God called Adam with the words:

β€œWhere are you?”

Since then, this divine call has run through the entire history of salvation.

Jesus invites people:

  • to rest,
  • to forgiveness,
  • to eternal life,
  • to fellowship with Him.

It is striking that God’s invitation is never based on force. He does not compel anyone to follow Him. His love respects human freedom of choice.

Salvation is a gift of grace. No one can earn it or buy it. That is why it says:

β€œWhoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.”

At the same time, God’s church becomes part of this invitation. The bride says together with the Spirit: β€œCome!” Whoever has personally experienced God’s grace will want to invite others to experience the same hope.

The final words of Jesus:

β€œSurely I am coming quickly”

connect the present and the future. While we may come to Him today, we may also wait for His soon return.

🌟 6. Spiritual Deepening

A remarkable truth of this lesson is the perspective of time.

People often ask:

β€œWhy hasn’t Jesus come yet?”

From our perspective, the waiting sometimes seems long.

But the Bible reminds us that our life is only a brief moment.

James describes it as a vapor.

Even if the second coming were still years away, every person will experience it personally very soon.

Whoever dies in faith closes their eyes, and the next thing they will hear is the voice of Jesus.

For the redeemed, there will be no consciously experienced waiting time between death and resurrection.

That is why Paul can say with full hope:

β€œAnd thus we shall always be with the Lord.”

Therefore, the invitation β€œCome!” applies not only to the first step of faith.

It applies every day.

Jesus invites us daily:

  • to trust Him,
  • to remain with Him,
  • to seek His presence,
  • to let ourselves be changed by Him.

Faith does not mean coming to Christ only once, but living in a lasting relationship with Him.

The closer we come to Jesus, the greater our longing for His return becomes.

Then the prayer of Revelation also becomes our prayer:

β€œAmen. Come, Lord Jesus!”

This prayer does not arise from fear of the world, but from love for Christ.

The greatest hope of Christians is not simply that problems will disappear. Our greatest hope is the encounter with our Redeemer.

πŸ”§ 7. Application in Daily Life

Practical steps:

  • Accept Jesus’ invitation anew every day.
  • Consciously spend time in prayer and in His Word.
  • Invite other people to get to know Jesus as well.
  • Nurture the hope of His return.
  • Pray regularly: β€œLord Jesus, come soon.”

❓ 8. Reflection Question

Do I respond daily to Jesus’ invitation, or do I allow other things to push aside my relationship with Him?

🌟 9. Final Thought

The Bible begins with God’s fellowship with human beings and ends with His invitation to perfect fellowship. Jesus still calls every person to Himself today. Whoever accepts His invitation finds peace, hope, and eternal life. And while we wait for His return, we may pray with full confidence:

β€œAmen. Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20)
