π Devotional of the Day
The first angelβs message proclaims not only the everlasting gospel, but also a solemn truth: βThe hour of His judgment has come.β These words remind us that world history is moving toward a goal and that our lives have meaning before God. Nothing is accidental, nothing is hidden, nothing is insignificant.
For some people, judgment sounds like a dark threat. Yet in the context of the three angelsβ messages, this statement stands in the very heart of the gospel. God speaks of judgment not to plunge people into despair, but to awaken them. He wants people to recognize: now is the time of grace. Now is the time to come to Christ. Now is the time to open the heart fully to God.
Judgment reminds us that every human being lives responsibly before God. Our words, decisions, motives, and actions carry weight. But this responsibility must not be separated from the grace of Christ. For the God who judges is the same God who gave His Son. The Judge is righteous, but the Redeemer intercedes for all who trust in Him.
Precisely for this reason, the message of judgment is not only solemn, but also full of hope. It shows that evil will not last forever. Injustice, lies, oppression, and sin will not have the final word. God will bring everything to light and judge everything according to truth. For those who suffer under injustice, this is a comforting message. For those who have drifted away from God, it is a loving call to repentance.
The hour of His judgment means: God is acting. He does not allow the world to continue endlessly in confusion. He is preparing everything for the return of Christ. Therefore, this message calls us to a watchful, honest, and faithful life. Not in fear, but in trust. Not in self-righteousness, but in deep dependence on Jesus.
β¨ Judgment in the Light of the Gospel
Judgment must never be viewed apart from Christ. Without Jesus, the thought of judgment would indeed cause fear. But with Jesus, judgment becomes a revelation of His grace, His righteousness, and His intercession.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βJudgment is part of the good news, because it shows that Godβs kingdom is founded on truth and righteousness.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 423)
Whoever accepts Christ as Savior may know: I do not stand alone before God. My life is known, but my hope rests in Jesus. His righteousness is stronger than my guilt.
πΏ Responsibility Instead of Indifference
The message of judgment calls us out of spiritual indifference. It reminds us that our life has a direction. What we love, whom we trust, and what we live for shape our heart.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βThe solemn message of judgment should lead people to examine their lives before God and to rely on Christ.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 425)
This examination is not meant to discourage us. It is an invitation to honesty. God does not want us to hide behind a religious façade. He wants a heart that lives openly before Him and allows itself to be transformed by His grace.
ποΈ Living Today in the Light of Eternity
If the hour of His judgment has come, then today is no ordinary day. Every day is an opportunity to come closer to Christ, to take His Word more seriously, and to accept His grace more deeply.
Living in the light of judgment does not mean constantly staring at our mistakes in fear. It means walking consciously with God. It means making decisions in the light of His truth. It means not hiding guilt, but bringing it to Jesus. It means not seeing the return of Christ as a distant doctrine, but as a living hope.
The first angelβs message calls us today: Live awake. Live honestly. Live in Christ. For the King is coming soon.
π Prayer
Dear Father in heaven,
thank You that Your judgment is righteous and that Your grace is greater than my guilt.
Help me to understand the hour of Your judgment not with fear, but in the light of the gospel.
Show me where my heart needs correction, cleansing, and renewed surrender.
Teach me to live responsibly before You and to place all my hope in Jesus.
Prepare me for the return of Christ and make my life a testimony of Your truth and grace.
Amen.
π Thought for the Day
Judgment does not call us to fear, but to a watchful life in Christ.
π‘ Personal Application

What does it mean to you to live responsibly before God? - Pray: βLord, help me to see my life honestly in Your light.β
- Practical step: Take a quiet moment today and ask God whether there is an area you should surrender to Him anew.
πΊ Closing Verse
βFor we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.β
β 2 Corinthians 5:10
