πŸ“– Central Bible Text of the Day

β€œBut if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
β€” 1 John 1:7

πŸŒ… Devotional of the Day

To live in the light means to stand honestly before God. It does not mean that we are without mistakes, but that we do not want to hide anything from Him. This is an important difference. Many people associate judgment with the thought that everything will come to light. But for the believer, this light is not first of all a threat, but an invitation to truth and healing.

God does not call us into the light in order to shame us, but to set us free. As long as guilt remains hidden, it keeps its power over the heart. But when we come to Christ with our guilt, our weaknesses, and our inner struggles, we do not meet rejection, but cleansing.

John directly connects walking in the light with the blood of Jesus. This is comforting. In the light of God, not only what is wrong becomes visible. There, it also becomes visible how great grace is. The light reveals, but Christ cleanses.

In connection with the heavenly judgment, this means: God is not looking for people who maintain a pious façade. He is looking for people who are willing to live truthfully with Him. Honesty is the path to healing. Whoever lives in the light does not need to fear the judgment, because they already live openly before the God who loves them.

✨ Light Brings Healing

People often fear the light because it makes hidden things visible. But God’s light is different from human exposure. It comes with grace.

Ellen G. White wrote:

β€œWhoever confesses their guilt before God opens the way for the healing work of grace.”

(Steps to Christ, p. 37)

Confession does not lead us away from God, but closer to Him.

🌿 No Façade Before God

Before people, we can hide many things. We can appear strong even though we are weak. We can appear religious even though the heart is tired. But before God, everything is open.

This truth can cause fear if we do not know God. But it brings peace when we know that He is a Father full of grace.

Ellen G. White wrote:

β€œGod does not require an outward confession without the surrender of the heart; He looks for sincerity.”

(Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 159)

πŸ•ŠοΈ Fellowship in the Light

John says that walking in the light also creates fellowship. Where honesty before God grows, relationships with others also become more genuine. Forgiveness, humility, and love can arise where people no longer live out of fear.

A life in the light is therefore not a lonely life. It is a life that, through God’s grace, becomes open, clear, and healing.

πŸ™ Prayer

Dear Father in heaven,

help me to live in the light of Your truth.

Keep me from hiding guilt or building a façade before You.

Thank You that Your light does not destroy, but heals.

Cleanse my heart through the blood of Jesus and give me courage for honesty.

Let my life be open before You and fill me with Your grace.

Amen.
