🌅 Devotional of the Day
Faith lives not only from conviction, but also from longing. The Bible speaks of people who “love” the appearing of Jesus. This means more than simply knowing that He is coming. It describes a heart that longs for Him.
This longing arises where a relationship has grown. Those who know Christ will not only wait for Him, but also miss Him. The Second Coming then becomes not a distant event, but a personal hope.
In a world that is often loud and distracting, this longing can easily be covered over. Daily life, worries, and responsibilities take up much space. Yet God invites us to turn our hearts toward Him again and again.
✨ A Heart That Waits
Waiting can be experienced in different ways. It can make us impatient or leave us feeling inwardly empty. But waiting in faith is different. It is filled with hope and trust.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“The longing for Christ’s return grows out of love for Him.”
(Maranatha, p. 17)
This longing is not pressure, but a natural result of a relationship with Christ.
🌿 Preserving Longing in Daily Life
A waiting heart does not arise by itself. It is nurtured. Through time with God, through His Word, and through conscious focus, this longing remains alive.
It is not about withdrawing from the world, but about living in the world without losing sight of the goal.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“Whoever seeks the nearness of Christ will also preserve the longing for His coming.”

🕊️ Hope That Draws Us Forward
The longing for the Second Coming is not burdensome, but sustaining. It draws us forward. It helps us see life not only in the here and now, but in the light of eternity.
This hope keeps the heart awake and directs it toward what truly matters.

Dear Heavenly Father,
give me a heart that longs for You.
Let my relationship with You grow,
so that my hope remains alive.
Keep me from losing myself
in the things of this world.
Turn my heart toward Your coming
and keep the longing alive within me.
Amen.
