📍 Introduction

In 1 Chronicles chapter 28, David gathers the leaders of Israel and gives his son Solomon a clear mission: to build the temple. It is a moment of transition—of responsibility, vision, and spiritual inheritance.

🧵 Commentary

David calls together the leadership of the people. This is not an ordinary meeting. You can sense that something decisive is taking place.

He begins to open his heart. He speaks about how deeply he had desired to build a house for God himself. This desire was genuine, deep, and sincere. But God had decided otherwise.

Instead of disappointment, David accepts this decision with humility. He recognizes that his son Solomon has been chosen for it. And now it is his task to pass on this calling.

David turns directly to Solomon. His words are clear and urgent: he must seek God, serve Him with all his heart, and remain faithful. It is more than a building assignment—it is a spiritual mission.

Then David hands over concrete plans. Nothing is vague or unclear. The vision is tangible, prepared, and well thought out. It shows that spiritual tasks can also be planned practically.

Above all, there is a promise: God will be with Solomon. This promise gives courage, strength, and security.

This chapter is marked by transition—from one generation to the next. It shows how important it is not only to live for oneself, but to pass things on.

📘 Blog 6: 👴 David’s final shadow

⚠️ When past leniency leads to new crises

📍 Introduction

Even in David’s final years, the kingdom was not without danger. Once again, the threat did not come from outside, but from within his own house.

⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯◆⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯

🧵 Commentary

David had grown old. The years, the battles, the worries, and inner burdens had weakened his strength. His mind was still alert, but his physical weakness made him slower and less watchful over what was happening in the kingdom. At that very time, a new conspiracy arose—this time through Adonijah.

Adonijah was handsome, respected, and ambitious. But above all, he was a son who had never truly been given boundaries. About him it is said in a striking sentence: his father had never denied him anything or asked why he acted as he did. This is not just a side note about upbringing, but a key to understanding the situation. Once again, David’s leniency bears bitter fruit.

Adonijah rose up against God’s order, for God had chosen Solomon as successor. Yet he gained supporters. Even Joab joined him, as did Abiathar. Another upheaval threatened near the throne. Ambition, family ties, and the struggle for power once again stood side by side.

But this time, loyalty and clarity intervened more quickly. Nathan, Zadok, and Bathsheba came before the king and reminded him of God’s word. David responded immediately. Solomon was anointed, publicly proclaimed king, and the conspiracy collapsed at its beginning.

Thus, David was not spared pain even in his final years. But God’s plan did not falter. Even human weakness could not stop the promise.

🧺 Summary

Adonijah tries to seize the throne. But through decisive intervention, Solomon is established as king in time.

🔦 Message for us today

What is not set in order in youth can bring serious consequences later in life. Leniency without truth is not love.
