๐Ÿ‘‘ The King Is Coming Soon โ€“ Hope Beyond the End

๐Ÿ‘‘ April 17 โ€“ The Son of Man Comes: Judgment and Justice

Monthly theme: The signs of the times โ€“ Watch and pray
Yearly theme 2026: โ€œThe King Is Coming Soon โ€“ Hope Beyond the Endโ€

๐Ÿ“– Central Bible text of the day

โ€œBut when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.โ€
โ€” Matthew 25:31

๐ŸŒ… Devotional of the day

There is a moment in history
toward which everything is moving.

Not hidden, not silent,
but visible in power and glory:
the Son of Man is coming.

Jesus does not describe this moment as a parable,
but as reality.
He comes as King โ€”
and He comes as Judge.

For many, the word โ€œjudgmentโ€ sounds heavy.
It awakens thoughts of fear, condemnation, and uncertainty.
But in the Bible, judgment is not only a sign of justice,
but also of hope.

Because judgment means:
God will not allow the injustice of this world to remain forever.

โœจ A righteous King

โ€œAnd He will separate the nations from one another โ€ฆโ€
โ€” Matthew 25:32

God sees what often remains hidden.
He knows motives, thoughts, and decisions.

In a world where so much seems unjust,
judgment is the promise:
In the end, truth will be revealed.

Ellen G. White wrote:
โ€œThe judgment reveals not only Godโ€™s justice, but also His grace toward those who trust in Him.โ€
(The Great Controversy, p. 480)

Judgment is not arbitrary.
It is permeated with love and truth.

๐ŸŒฟ The surprising foundation

What stands out in Jesusโ€™ description is astonishing:
He does not speak first of great deeds,
but of simple things.

Feeding the hungry.
Giving drink to the thirsty.
Welcoming the stranger.
Visiting the sick.

โ€œWhatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine,
you did for Me.โ€

โ€” Matthew 25:40

This shows:
Faith is revealed in everyday life.
In the small, often invisible moments.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ A life that reflects Christ

The righteous are surprised.
They do not consciously remember great works.

Why?

Because their lives were changed from within.
For them, love was not duty,
but an expression of their relationship with Christ.

Ellen G. White wrote:
โ€œCharacter is formed in daily life, and in the judgment it becomes visible what has grown in secret.โ€
(Christโ€™s Object Lessons, p. 310)

๐ŸŒ„ Hope in judgment

For those who know Christ,
judgment is not a day of fear,
but a day of revelation.

A day when it will become visible:
Godโ€™s grace has sustained.
His forgiveness was real.
His work in the heart was effective.

Judgment confirms
that God is just โ€”
and that His love transforms.

๐Ÿ™ Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
thank You that You are a just and at the same time merciful God.

Help me to live my life not only outwardly,
but from the heart with You.

Transform my character through Your love,
so that my actions may reflect Your goodness.

Take away my fear of judgment
and fill me with trust in Your grace.

Amen.

๐Ÿ’ญ Thought for the day

โ€œJudgment is not the threat for the believer, but the revelation of Godโ€™s justice and love.โ€
โ€” Ellen G. White

๐Ÿ’ก Personal application

  1. Read Matthew 25:31โ€“46.
What surprises you about the criteria of judgment?
  2. Pray: โ€œLord, shape my heart according to Your character.โ€
  3. Practical: Do something good today intentionally in secret โ€” without being seen.

๐ŸŒบ Closing verse

โ€œFor we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.โ€
โ€” 2 Corinthians 5:10
