Have you ever made a mistake and hoped that no one would notice?
Sometimes it is possible to hide something.
But deep in our hearts we know:
It was not right.

God sees everything – and yet He is not looking for guilty people,
but for hearts that are ready to be honest and turn back.
In this story, David is confronted with his great mistake.
But the goal is not punishment –
but healing.

📖 The Biblical Story

David had remained silent for many months.
No one spoke about Uriah.
No one asked why Bathsheba was now married to the king.
But God was not silent.

God spoke with Nathan, a courageous prophet.
He gave him a special task:
“Go to David. Speak with him – but in a way that makes him truly understand.”

Nathan went to the palace.
He stood before the king and began to tell a story:

“In a city there lived two men.
One was rich and had many sheep and cattle.
The other was poor – he had only one little lamb.
This lamb was like a pet.
It slept in his lap, ate from his plate, and was like a child to him.

One day a visitor came to the rich man.
But instead of taking one of his many animals,
he took the poor man’s only lamb –
and prepared it for his guest.”

David was shocked.
“That is unfair!” he cried.
“The rich man has done something terrible!
He must pay back four times over! Such a thing must not happen!”

Then Nathan looked at him seriously.
And said the words that struck David like lightning:

“You are that man.”

David fell silent.

Nathan explained what God had said:
“I made you king, David.
I gave you protection, success, and far more than you needed.
And yet you took what did not belong to you.
You sent Uriah to his death –
and took his wife for yourself.”

David swallowed hard.
He could no longer deny it.
He said only:
“I have sinned against the Lord.”

And Nathan answered:
“The Lord has forgiven you.
You will not die.
But the deed has consequences.”

And it was true: the child Bathsheba had borne became very sick.
David prayed, fasted, and wept.
But the child died.

When it was over, David stood up, washed himself, and prayed to God.
The people were amazed.
But David said:
“I cannot bring the child back.
But I can keep living and trust in God.”

David had made a terrible mistake – and wanted to hide it.
But God sent Nathan, who helped him see the truth.
David repented, God forgave –
but the consequences remained.

This story shows:
God loves us too much to leave us in our guilt.

God knows your heart – even what no one else can see.
When you make a mistake, it is not the end.
But it is important to be honest,
to take responsibility
and to turn back.

Because God is merciful.
He forgives – and shows you a new way.
