๐ 2 Samuel Chapter 12 โ The Prophet Shows the Way Back
โจ When Courage Leads to the Truth
๐ Introduction
Have you ever made a mistake and hoped that no one would notice?
Sometimes it is possible to hide something.
But deep in our hearts we know:
It was not right.
God sees everything โ and yet He is not looking for guilty people,
but for hearts that are ready to be honest and turn back.
In this story, David is confronted with his great mistake.
But the goal is not punishment โ
but healing.
๐ The Biblical Story
David had remained silent for many months.
No one spoke about Uriah.
No one asked why Bathsheba was now married to the king.
But God was not silent.
God spoke with Nathan, a courageous prophet.
He gave him a special task:
โGo to David. Speak with him โ but in a way that makes him truly understand.โ
Nathan went to the palace.
He stood before the king and began to tell a story:
โIn a city there lived two men.
One was rich and had many sheep and cattle.
The other was poor โ he had only one little lamb.
This lamb was like a pet.
It slept in his lap, ate from his plate, and was like a child to him.
One day a visitor came to the rich man.
But instead of taking one of his many animals,
he took the poor manโs only lamb โ
and prepared it for his guest.โ
David was shocked.
โThat is unfair!โ he cried.
โThe rich man has done something terrible!
He must pay back four times over! Such a thing must not happen!โ
Then Nathan looked at him seriously.
And said the words that struck David like lightning:
โYou are that man.โ
David fell silent.
Nathan explained what God had said:
โI made you king, David.
I gave you protection, success, and far more than you needed.
And yet you took what did not belong to you.
You sent Uriah to his death โ
and took his wife for yourself.โ
David swallowed hard.
He could no longer deny it.
He said only:
โI have sinned against the Lord.โ
And Nathan answered:
โThe Lord has forgiven you.
You will not die.
But the deed has consequences.โ
And it was true: the child Bathsheba had borne became very sick.
David prayed, fasted, and wept.
But the child died.
When it was over, David stood up, washed himself, and prayed to God.
The people were amazed.
But David said:
โI cannot bring the child back.
But I can keep living and trust in God.โ
๐ฃ Summary
David had made a terrible mistake โ and wanted to hide it.
But God sent Nathan, who helped him see the truth.
David repented, God forgave โ
but the consequences remained.
This story shows:
God loves us too much to leave us in our guilt.
๐ Message for Children Today
God knows your heart โ even what no one else can see.
When you make a mistake, it is not the end.
But it is important to be honest,
to take responsibility
and to turn back.
Because God is merciful.
He forgives โ and shows you a new way.
๐ญ Reflection
๐ธ What would you have felt in Nathanโs place? Would you have dared to be that courageous?
๐ธ Why is it sometimes so hard to honestly admit that you have done something wrong?
๐ธ Do you believe that God forgives you even when you have done something really terrible?

๐ Invitation to 2 Samuel โ Chapter 13
โ ๏ธ When Wrong Happens Within Oneโs Own Family
Sometimes the worst things do not happen in war,
not on the battlefield โ
but right in the middle of the family.
Chapter 13 is about sadness, violence, revenge
and the silence that makes everything even worse.
This story shows how important it is
not to look away when wrong is being done โ
not even when it happens in your own home.
๐ Teaser for Chapter 13
David has many children.
Two of his sons โ Amnon and Absalom โ
and his daughter Tamar play a major role in this story.
But what happens is anything but beautiful.
One brother deeply hurts his sister.
Another remains silent โ but secretly plans revenge in his heart.
And David?
He is sad, but does โฆ nothing.
๐ Chapter 13 tells of a family
in which something breaks apart โ
because no one has the courage to do what is right.
