🧵 Commentary
After the events of the previous chapter, David realizes: this place where he met God should be more than just a moment. Here, the house of God is to be built.
But David knows that he himself will not build this temple. Instead of withdrawing, he begins to act—not for himself, but for the next generation.
He gathers materials in great quantity: gold, silver, wood, stone. Everything is prepared carefully and with foresight. It is as if he is saying: even if I do not complete it, I can prepare the way.
Then he turns to his son Solomon. He encourages him, strengthens him, and gives him clear instructions. His words are not only practical but also spiritual: Solomon must be strong, courageous—and above all, trust in God.
David reminds him that success does not depend only on planning, but on closeness to God.
The leaders of the people are also involved. David calls them to support Solomon. It becomes clear: great tasks are carried out together.
This chapter shows a special attitude: not only living in the present, but investing in the future.

📘 Blog 7: ⚔️ Victory with Tears
💔 When a father’s heart speaks louder than a king’s triumph
📍 Introduction
The decisive battle brings David victory—but no peace to his heart.
⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯◆⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
🧵 Commentary
Absalom crosses the Jordan with his army. He is convinced that the future belongs to him. David, on the other hand, organizes his troops and wants to go into battle himself, but his men hold him back. To them, he is worth more than ten thousand others.
And yet, in that moment, David is not thinking first about the throne or the crown. His heart is with Absalom. Again and again he gives the command: “Deal gently with my son Absalom.”
Then the battle begins in the forest. The terrain becomes David’s ally. Absalom’s inexperienced army falls apart, and twenty thousand men die. Absalom himself flees, gets caught by his hair in the branches, and becomes a helpless image of his fallen pride—hanging between heaven and earth.
A soldier sees him but does not dare to kill him. Joab, however, does not hesitate. For him, Absalom is not the king’s son but the source of the rebellion. He drives spears into his heart. Thus the revolt ends.
When the news reaches David, he does not first ask about the victory. He only asks: “Is the young man Absalom safe?” When he learns the truth, everything within him collapses. He weeps and cries: “My son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!”
The victory turns into grief. The returning soldiers hardly dare to enter the city. They do not feel honored, but ashamed, because the king mourns the man who had led them toward destruction.
Joab approaches David harshly, almost brutally—but he is right: the king must face his men, otherwise he will lose everything. And David listens. Despite his broken heart, he goes to the gate and receives the warriors.
Thus, the battle ends not with triumph, but with a scene in which love, pain, duty, and God’s justice are all revealed at once.

🧺 Summary
David’s army defeats Absalom, but the king experiences the victory not as a triumph, but as a deep personal loss.
