👑 The King is coming soon – Hope beyond the end
📅 March 21 – When Warnings Are Ignored: Belshazzar’s Last Night
Monthly Theme: Daniel: The God Who Guides History – Faithfulness in the Fiery Trial
Yearly Theme 2026: “The King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End”
📖 Central Bible Text of the Day
“And you, his son Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this.”
— Daniel 5:22
🌅 Devotional of the Day
The walls of Babylon were considered impregnable.
While the enemies were encamped before the city,
King Belshazzar held a lavish feast.
He knew the story of Nebuchadnezzar.
He knew how God had intervened.
But knowledge alone does not save.
In the middle of the feast, a hand appeared
and wrote on the wall.
“You have been weighed in the balance and found wanting.”
— Daniel 5:27
The problem was not ignorance,
but indifference.
✨ Light Brings Responsibility
Belshazzar had received light,
yet he deliberately chose against it.
God forces no one.
But every decision shapes the character.
“For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required.”
— Luke 12:48
Ellen G. White wrote:
“Belshazzar was not without warning. He knew of God’s dealings, but he hardened his heart.”
(Prophets and Kings, p. 530)
Warnings are an expression of grace.
But grace must not be ignored.
🌿 The Fragility of Human Security
Babylon seemed unshakable.
Yet that very night, the kingdom fell.
Human security can be deceptive.
“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.”
— 1 Corinthians 10:12
True security is not found in walls or power,
but in a humble heart.
🕊️ Today Is the Day of Decision
Belshazzar’s story reminds us:
The time of grace is precious.
“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”
— Hebrews 3:15
Ellen G. White wrote:
“God’s patience has a limit. Those who continually reject His warnings will eventually lose the opportunity to repent.”
(Maranatha, p. 128)
🌄 A Call to Watchfulness
We also live in a time of waiting.
The world seems secure,
but history is moving toward its climax.
The question is not when walls will fall—
but whether our hearts are prepared.
🙏 Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
thank You for Your patience and Your loving warnings.
Guard my heart from indifference.
Help me to take Your light seriously
and to live in humility before You.
Give me a watchful heart
that listens to Your voice.
Amen.
