๐Ÿ“– 2 Kings Chapter 22 โ€“ The rediscovered book

๐Ÿ’ก When Godโ€™s Word changes a heart

๐ŸŒ… Introduction

Sometimes something very valuable lies right in front of us โ€”
but we donโ€™t notice it.

Maybe a letter lies unopened for a long time.
Maybe a gift that is never unwrapped.

Thatโ€™s how it was in Judah.

In Godโ€™s temple, something important was hidden.
Something that would change everything.

And a young king was ready to listen.

๐Ÿ“– The biblical story

๐Ÿ‘‘ An eight-year-old king

Josiah was only eight years old
when he became king.

Eight!

But the Bible says something special about him:

He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.
He walked in the ways of his ancestor David.
He did not turn aside to the right or to the left.

Josiah wanted to please God.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ The temple is repaired

In the 18th year of his reign,
Josiah decided to restore the temple of the Lord.

Workers were called.
Stones were repaired.
Broken parts were fixed.

The money had been collected,
and faithful men managed it honestly.

But during the work,
something unexpected happened.

๐Ÿ“œ An amazing discovery

The high priest Hilkiah
found a book in the temple.

Not just any book.

It was the Book of the Law of God.

Maybe it had lain in the dust for a long time.
Maybe it had been forgotten
during all those years
when unfaithful kings had ruled.

Hilkiah gave the book to the scribe Shaphan.
And Shaphan read from it.

Then he brought it to the king.

๐Ÿ˜ข A shaken heart

When Josiah heard the words of the Law,
something happened in his heart.

He tore his clothes.

Why?

Because he realized:

The people had not kept Godโ€™s commands.
They had done many things wrong.
And the announced consequences were serious.

Josiah was deeply shaken.

Not because he had been caught โ€”
but because he saw
how far they had turned away from God.

That was true repentance.

๐Ÿ™ An important question

Josiah said to his servants:

โ€œGo and inquire of the Lord for me,
for the people and for all Judah.

For great is the Lordโ€™s anger,
because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book.โ€

They went to a prophetess named Huldah.

She explained Godโ€™s answer to them.

โš–๏ธ Godโ€™s serious but gracious answer

Huldah said:

Yes, judgment will come.
Because the people have turned away from God.

But then came a special word about Josiah:

โ€œBecause your heart was responsive
and you humbled yourself before the Lord,
and because you wept โ€”
I have heard you.โ€

Josiah would not see the coming disaster.

God had seen his heart.
