π Daily Devotional
The first angelβs message not only calls us to fear God, but also to give Him glory. This is more than a religious expression. To give glory to God means to acknowledge Him as the center of life. It means that our words, decisions, thoughts, and actions should point to Him.
Many people seek honor for themselves. They want to be seen, affirmed, and recognized. This temptation can also arise in the spiritual life. One may do good and yet secretly wish to be admired for it. One may speak pious words and still seek oneβs own reputation. But the first angelβs message calls us back to a simple, profound truth: all glory belongs to God.
Giving glory to God does not mean that human beings become insignificant. On the contrary: life receives its true meaning when it is directed toward God. We were not created to make ourselves the center, but to reflect the character of God. When His love, patience, truth, and faithfulness become visible in our lives, then He is honored.
In connection with the judgment, this call takes on special significance. The hour of His judgment has come. This reminds us that our lives carry weight before God. It is not indifferent how we live, whom we honor, and what determines our hearts. Yet this call is not meant to drive us into fear, but to lead us into conscious surrender.
A life for the glory of God is not a life of outward piety. It begins in the heart. Where Christ receives first place, the visible life also changes. Our words become gentler, our decisions clearer, our priorities more ordered, and our witness more credible.
β¨ Honoring God with the Whole Life
God is not honored only in worship, but also in everyday life. He is honored in the way we work, how we speak with people, how we use our time, and how we make decisions when no one is watching.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βAll who follow Christ are to reveal His character through their lives.β
(Christβs Object Lessons, p. 69)
This means: the message we proclaim should become visible in our character. A life that honors God makes the truth beautiful and credible.
πΏ Away from Self-Glorification
The natural human being often seeks self. He wants to be right, to be noticed, and to receive recognition. But Christ leads us on another path. His life was completely directed toward the Father. He did not seek His own glory, but the glory of the One who had sent Him.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βIn the life of Christ there was no place for selfishness. Everything He did was for the glory of God and for the good of humanity.β
(The Desire of Ages, p. 19)
Whoever beholds Jesus learns that true greatness does not consist in exalting oneself, but in serving God and becoming a blessing to others.
ποΈ Making the Glory of God Visible
The first angelβs message is not only a teaching for the mind, but a call to the whole life. God is honored when we trust Him, when we love His truth, and when we remain faithful in a confused world.
Perhaps this will happen today in a quiet decision. Perhaps in remaining honest, even though it would be easier to avoid the truth. Perhaps in answering kindly, even though one has been hurt. Perhaps in placing Godβs will above personal advantage. Such moments are not small before God. They show to whom our heart belongs.
When Godβs people give Him glory, the last message of grace is not only heard, but seen. Then our life becomes a sign pointing to the coming King.
π Prayer
Dear Father in heaven,
help me to give You glory in everything.
Keep me from placing myself at the center or seeking recognition for myself.
Let my life point to Christ and reflect Your character.
Give me a heart that trusts You, loves Your truth, and gladly does Your will.
May everything I think, say, and do glorify You.
Amen.
π Thought for the Day
Giving glory to God means that my life points to Him and not to myself.
π‘ Personal Application
- Read Revelation 14:7 and 1 Corinthians 10:31.
In which areas of your daily life can you give glory to God more consciously? - Pray: βLord, let my life glorify You.β
- Practical: Today, make one decision consciously with the question: βDoes this honor God?β
πΊ Closing Verse
βTherefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.β
β 1 Corinthians 10:31
