🧵 Commentary

With this chapter, the perspective shifts. Away from the fighting tribes and royal lines, toward a quieter yet no less important service. The Levites move into the center.

Their names are recorded, their genealogies carefully preserved. It is as if God makes special care that these people are not forgotten—because their service is unique. They carry responsibility for the sanctuary, for the music, and for the order of worship.

Among the names appear familiar figures, such as Aaron, the first high priest. From him develops a line of priests who continue the service before God generation after generation. It is a service that requires dedication, purity, and faithfulness.

The singers are also mentioned—people who serve God through music. Their role is to bring praise and make the presence of God heard. It shows that worship is a central part of life with God.

Then it describes where the Levites lived. They were given cities distributed among the tribes of Israel. They did not have a large territory of their own but lived among the people. Their lives were closely connected to their calling—to serve God and spiritually support the people.

This chapter makes one thing clear: not everyone is called to be a warrior or a king. Some are called to serve—and that is precisely where their greatness lies.

When worship is misunderstood

📍 Introduction

Not everyone understands spiritual joy.

⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯◆⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯

🧺 Summary

While the people rejoice, Michal sits at the window.

She sees David dancing—and despises him. To her, it is undignified. Unworthy of a king.

When David returns home, he is not met with joy, but with mockery.

But David’s response is clear:
He does not dance for people. He lives before God.

Michal’s problem was not David’s behavior—but her own heart. Pride had distorted her perspective.
