👑 The King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End

👑 May 20 – The Second Coming in the Light of the Cross: Certainty of Completion

Monthly Theme: The Cross and the Second Coming – The Victory of Love
Yearly Theme 2026: “The King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End”

📖 Central Bible Verse of the Day

“So Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time… for salvation to those who eagerly wait for Him.”
Hebrews 9:28

🌅 Devotional Thought of the Day

The cross and the second coming of Jesus are inseparably connected. At the cross, the work of redemption began, and at His return it will be completed. What happened there in hiddenness will then become visible to all.

Jesus did not come only to suffer and die. He will return to complete what He began. This certainty gives faith a firm foundation. Our hope does not rest on an uncertain outcome, but on a victory already won.

Therefore, the second coming is not an isolated event, but the continuation of the story of the cross. The One who gave Himself will appear as King. The One who suffered will return in glory.

Certainty Through the Finished Work

Our hope in the second coming is not uncertain. It is founded on what Christ has already accomplished. Because the sacrifice was perfect, the completion is also certain.

Ellen G. White wrote:
“The second coming of Christ is the certain result of His completed work of redemption.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 299)

This certainty removes fear and strengthens trust.

🌿 Living in Expectation

The certainty of the second coming changes our lives. It does not call us to passivity, but to conscious expectation. Whoever knows that Christ is coming lives differently.

This expectation is not nervous tension, but calm assurance. It shapes our decisions and directs our attention toward what is to come.

Ellen G. White wrote:
“The hope of Christ’s second coming has a purifying influence upon the lives of believers.”
(Maranatha, p. 57)

🕊️ The Completion in View

The second coming of Jesus will complete everything that is still unfinished today. Suffering, sin, and death will not have the final word. God’s plan will reach its fulfillment.

This perspective gives depth to faith. It shows us that our lives are part of a greater story, one that God Himself will bring to completion.

🙏 Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
thank You for the certainty that Jesus is coming again.

Help me to live in this hope
and to place my trust in You.

Direct my eyes toward the fulfillment
and give me a heart that waits for You.

Lead me on Your path
and prepare me for Your coming.

Amen.
