π± GROWING IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
π Lesson 8: Having Faith
π 8.4 Examples of Faith
Faith trusts God even when nothing can yet be seen
π 1. Introduction β Believing Without Seeing Everything
Hebrews 11 is often called the βchapter of faith.β
There we meet people
who trusted God, even though:
- their future was unclear
- they experienced trials
- many promises still remained unfulfilled
They did not see everything β
and yet they believed.
π This is exactly where the essence of faith lies.
π 2. The Biblical Foundation β Hebrews 11
Hebrews 11:1 describes faith as:
π βthe assurance of things hoped for.β
The people in this chapter trusted Godβs Word more than their visible circumstances.
Noah built an ark,
even though there had not yet been any rain.
Abraham left his homeland,
without knowing where God would lead him.
Moses chose Godβs way rather than the security of Egypt.
All these people acted in trust toward God.
π 3. Connection to Today
Even today, people often want first:
- security
- control
- visible results
And only then to believe.
But many situations in life remain uncertain:
- the future
- health
- decisions
- spiritual questions
That is why faith remains relevant today.
π Trust often becomes necessary precisely where not everything is visible or explainable.
π‘ 4. Central Message of the Lesson
π Faith means trusting God and following Him, even when the path is not yet fully visible.
βοΈ 5. Theological Focus
At the center of this lesson is the nature of faith as trust in Godβs reality and promises.
Hebrews 11 shows:
Faith is not merely religious agreement or theoretical knowledge.
Biblical faith always leads to concrete action.
The people in Hebrews 11 did not only believe inwardly β
they lived accordingly.
A central theological thought is:
π Faith is directed toward the invisible God.
Verse 3 explains
that the world was created by Godβs Word.
Interestingly:
The Bible does not treat faith in a Creator as irrational,
but as a fundamental reality.
Everything that exists points to origin, order, and meaning.
Furthermore, Hebrews 11:6 makes clear:
π Without faith it is impossible to please God.
Why?
Because relationship requires trust.
No one can have a genuine relationship
where constant mistrust prevails.
The same is true spiritually.
The lesson also shows:
Faith does not mean the complete absence of questions.
Many heroes of faith experienced:
- fear
- uncertainty
- waiting
- suffering
And yet they held on to God.
This is decisive:
π Faith is not perfect certainty,
but steady trust.
The connection between faith and hope is also important.
The people in Hebrews 11 often lived
without experiencing the complete fulfillment of the promises.
They looked beyond their own lives toward Godβs greater future.
π Theologically decisive:
Faith lives from trust in Godβs faithfulness β not merely from visible results.
π 6. The Examples of Faith Explained
Noah believed Godβs warning and acted,
even though the danger was still invisible.
Abraham left his homeland
without knowing the entire way.
Sarah trusted God despite human impossibility.
Moses consciously chose against the short-term advantage of Egypt.
Rahab trusted Godβs power despite her past.
All these people had different personalities and weaknesses.
But one thing united them:
π They took Godβs Word seriously and acted accordingly.
Hebrews 11 also shows
that faith means growth.
Like a mustard seed, genuine faith grows step by step.
Therefore, the lesson encourages us:
- to read Godβs Word regularly
- to ask for faith
- to bring doubts honestly before God
- to live faith practically
Especially important is Mark 9:24:
π βI believe; help my unbelief!β
Even struggling faith can grow
when it holds on to Jesus.
π§ 7. Application in Daily Life
This lesson becomes practical through concrete steps:
- consciously read Godβs promises
- ask in prayer for stronger faith
- take even small steps of faith seriously
- do not forget Godβs past guidance
- practice trust practically
- do not rely only on feelings
β 8. Reflection Question
Where is God currently challenging me to trust Him, even though I cannot yet see or understand everything?
π 9. Final Thought
The heroes of faith in the Bible were not perfect people.
But they chose
to trust God more than their fear.
Because:
π Genuine faith does not mean having all the answers β but faithfully following the One who has them.
