🌳 More Than Just Names

πŸ“– Matthew 1:1–6

β€œThis is the record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.”
Matthew 1:1

Let’s be honest.

When you see a list of names in the Bible, do you read it or turn the page?

Many people skip genealogies.

They seem boring.

And yet the New Testament begins with one.

Why?

Because God wants us to understand something:

Jesus did not simply appear in this world one day.

His coming had been prepared for centuries.

Every name tells part of this story.

Abraham reminds us of God’s promise.

David reminds us of the king whose descendant the Messiah would be.

And in between?

People with strengths.

People with weaknesses.

People who trusted God.

And others who made serious mistakes.

Even so, God wrote His story with them.

That gives us hope.

Because God does not wait for perfect people.

He writes His story with people who are willing to trust Him.

Perhaps you sometimes think:

β€œI am not good enough.”

Then look at the genealogy of Jesus.

You will not find perfect heroes there.

You will find people who needed God’s grace.

Just like us.

And that is exactly why the Gospel begins with a list of names.

It tells us about a God who keeps His promises, generation after generation.

πŸ’ Think About It

If God wrote history with imperfect people, why should He not also work through you?

πŸ™ Prayer

Dear Father,

thank You that You are not looking for perfect people.

Thank You that Your grace is greater than my mistakes.

Help me trust You and find my place in Your story.

I want to place my life in Your hands.

Amen.

πŸŒ™ Sleep well.

Your loving Father is also writing a story with your life.

See you tomorrow.
