🌑 2 Kings Chapter 21 – A dark king and God’s patience
⚖️ When wrong paths have great consequences
🌅 Introduction
Sometimes someone ruins everything again
that was built up well before.
Imagine someone cleans your room —
and shortly after, someone else comes
and messes everything up again.
That’s what it was like after King Hezekiah.
He had trusted God.
He had destroyed idols.
He had led the people back to God.
But then his son Manasseh came.
And with him began a very dark time.
📖 The biblical story
📖 A young king – but a wrong path
Manasseh was only twelve years old
when he became king.
He ruled for a long time — 55 years.
That was very long.
But sadly, he did not use this time well.
He rebuilt the high places
that his father Hezekiah had destroyed.
He set up altars for Baal.
He worshiped the stars and heavenly bodies.
He even brought foreign idols
into the temple of the Lord.
Imagine that:
In God’s house
there were suddenly idols.
🔥 Very terrible deeds
But it became even sadder.
Manasseh went so far
that he sacrificed his own son.
He practiced magic
and dealt with false spirits.
He led the people astray.
The Bible says
that he did more evil
than the nations
God had driven out before.
This was serious.
Very serious.
📣 God’s warning
But God did not remain silent.
He sent prophets.
They warned Manasseh
and the people.
They said:
“Because you have done so much evil,
great disaster will come.
Jerusalem will not be spared.”
God was patient.
But the people did not listen.
Manasseh did not listen.
He did not change.
🩸 Innocent blood
The Bible says
that Manasseh shed much innocent blood.
People who wanted to be faithful to God
were persecuted.
Jerusalem became full of injustice.
God’s heart was grieved.
👑 Another king – no change
After Manasseh’s death,
his son Amon became king.
But he also did what was evil.
He learned nothing
from his father’s mistakes.
He continued to serve idols.
He ruled only two years,
because his own servants
killed him.
But the people made his son Josiah king.
And with him,
hope would return.
🟣 Summary
Manasseh ruled for a long time —
but on a wrong path.
He destroyed much
that had once been good.
He led the people into great sin.
God warned.
God sent prophets.
But they did not listen.
Sin does not remain without consequences.
But even in this dark time,
God did not completely give up on His people.
Because a new king was ready.
💚 Message for children today
Maybe you think:
“One decision isn’t that bad.”
But many wrong decisions
one after another
can change a whole life.
God is patient.
He warns with love.
But He wants us
to turn back in time.
And the good news is:
No matter how dark it was —
God can start again.
