๐Ÿ‘‘ The King Is Coming Soon โ€“ Hope Beyond the End

๐Ÿ“… January 13 โ€“ The Resurrection of the Righteous

Monthly theme: The Blessed Hope โ€“ Living in Expectation
Year theme 2026: โ€œThe King Is Coming Soon โ€“ Hope Beyond the Endโ€

๐Ÿ“– Central Bible Text of the Day

โ€œFor the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God,
and the dead in Christ will rise first.โ€
โ€” 1 Thessalonians 4:16

๐ŸŒ… Devotional Thought for the Day

For centuries they have been sleeping โ€“
the believers of all ages who died in the hope of the return of Jesus.
The Bible calls their condition โ€œsleep,โ€
because for God, death is not an end,
but a short pause before the greatest awakening in history:
the resurrection of the righteous.

โ€œYour dead shall live;
my dead bodies shall arise.
Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust!
For your dew is a dew of light.โ€
โ€” Isaiah 26:19

When the trumpet of heaven sounds,
the grave will no longer be able to hold its captives.
Dust will turn into life,
and mourning will turn into joy.
The redeemed will be clothed with immortality,
and separation will be overcome forever.

โœจ The Power of Life Over Death

โ€œI am the resurrection and the life.
Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies.โ€
โ€” John 11:25

Jesus spoke these words at the tomb of Lazarus โ€“
not as philosophy, but with divine authority.
He is not only the giver of life;
He is life itself.

Ellen G. White wrote:

โ€œAt the moment when the voice of Christ is heard,
the power of death is broken.
No grave can hold its captives.
The redeemed come forth in triumph, crying,
โ€˜O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?โ€™โ€
(The Great Controversy, p. 645)

The resurrection is not merely a hope โ€“
it is the completion of the plan of redemption.
Death, the last enemy, is swallowed up in Christโ€™s victory.

๐ŸŒฟ Immortality โ€“ The Gift of Heaven

โ€œFor this corruptible must put on incorruption,
and this mortal must put on immortality.โ€
โ€” 1 Corinthians 15:53

Human beings do not possess natural immortality.
Eternal life is a gift God bestows at the Second Coming.
The resurrection is the moment
when this gift becomes visible.

Ellen White explains:

โ€œNone of the righteous receive immortality before Jesus returns.
Only when the voice of the Son of God is heard
are believers made incorruptible.โ€
(The Great Controversy, p. 550)

Therefore, for the believer, death is not eternal silence,
but a peaceful waiting for the call of life.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Reunion Without Farewell

How many tears have been shed at graves!
But God Himself has counted every tear (Psalm 56:8).
He has kept them for the day
when He will wipe them away forever.

โ€œAnd God will wipe away every tear from their eyes;
there shall be no more death.โ€
โ€” Revelation 21:4

Ellen G. White describes this reunion with moving warmth:

โ€œFriends whom death has separated will recognize one another again.
In heaven we shall meet our loved ones,
and never again will a farewell darken our joy.โ€
(The Great Controversy, p. 676)

What a day that will be!
No grave, no farewell, no more pain โ€“
only eternal fellowship with Christ and with one another.

๐Ÿ™ Prayer

Lord Jesus,
You are the resurrection and the life.

Thank You that death had no power over You
and that Your victory is also our victory.

Comfort today all who have lost a loved one.
Let the certainty of the resurrection shine in their hearts.

Strengthen our faith,
that in life and in death we may trust in You.

And when the trumpet sounds,
let us hear Your voice with joy.

Amen.

๐Ÿ’ญ Thought for the Day

โ€œThe life of the righteous is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, appears,
then you also will appear with Him in glory.โ€
โ€” Ellen G. White, Maranatha, p. 292

๐Ÿ’ก Personal Application

Read 1 Corinthians 15:51โ€“58.
Which promise gives you comfort beyond death?

Pray: โ€œLord, help me live in the assurance of Your resurrection power.โ€

Encourage: Share today with someone who is grieving
the hope found in 1 Thessalonians 4:16โ€“17.

๐ŸŒบ Closing Verse

โ€œBlessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.
โ€˜Yes,โ€™ says the Spirit, โ€˜that they may rest from their labors,
and their works follow them.โ€™โ€
โ€” Revelation 14:13
