¹ And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:

² For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

³ And again they said, Alleluia And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

⁴ And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.

⁵ And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

⁶ And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

⁷ Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

⁸ And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

⁹ And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

¹¹ And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

¹² His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

¹³ And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

¹⁴ And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

¹⁵ And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

¹⁶ And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.

¹⁷ And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

¹⁸ That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

¹⁹ And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

²⁰ And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

²¹ And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

🔵 Introduction

Revelation 19 bursts forth in jubilation, justice, and hope. Following the dramatic fall of Babylon in chapter 18, heaven erupts in praise. This chapter portrays the final overthrow of evil, Christ’s triumphant intervention, and the grand marriage of the Lamb—symbolizing the glorious union of Jesus with His church. It brings comfort to persecuted believers and a majestic vision of history’s culmination and the dawn of eternal glory.

🟡 Commentary

1. Heaven’s Hallelujah over God’s Justice (vv. 1–5)

   • A heavenly multitude proclaims “Hallelujah!” in celebration of Babylon’s condemnation and God’s righteous vengeance for His people’s blood.

   • The unique use of “Hallelujah” in the New Testament underscores the triumphant praise.

   • Elders and living creatures join the worship, affirming God’s faithfulness and inviting all His servants to join.

2. The Marriage of the Lamb (vv. 6–10)

   • Heaven rejoices: “The marriage of the Lamb has come”—an image of Christ’s union with His purified church.

   • The Bride is clothed in “fine linen,” symbolizing the righteous deeds of the saints.

   • A beatitude: “Blessed are those invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.”

   • The angel forbids worshipping him, reminding John that true worship belongs to God alone.

3. Christ’s Triumphant Appearance (vv. 11–16)

   • Christ appears as a warrior on a white horse, named Faithful and True, executing just judgment.

   • His eyes like fire and many crowns signify sovereign authority; His robe dipped in blood recalls His sacrificial victory.

   • He is called The Word of God, echoing John 1:1.

   • His mouth wields a sharp sword (the Word) to strike the nations; His title: King of kings and Lord of lords.

4. The Defeat of the Beast and False Prophet (vv. 17–21)

   • An angel summons the birds for the great divine banquet—symbolic of the final judgment.

   • The beast and false prophet are captured and cast alive into the lake of fire.

   • The rest of their armies are slain by Christ’s word, and the birds feed on their flesh—emphasizing total and irrevocable defeat.

2. The Church as the Bride. We are called to live in purity and readiness for the marriage supper of the Lamb—our lives reflecting righteous deeds.

3. Christ the Conqueror. Jesus is not only Savior but Sovereign Warrior. He governs history and will triumph over every form of evil.

4. A Call to Allegiance. Each person faces a choice: to join the marriage feast of the Lamb or be counted among the vanquished. Choose today to stand with Christ, the faithful and true King.

🔵 Introduction

In the Christian life there is a deep, lasting joy—regardless of external circumstances. This chapter shows how, despite trials and struggles, we can live a fulfilled and joyful faith. True joy is not rooted in the pleasures of this world, but in ongoing fellowship with God, in trusting His love, and in looking forward to the glorious future He has prepared for us.

🟡 Commentary

🔹 1. Our Calling: Bearers of Light and Letters of Christ (Sections 1–3)
Christians are God’s representatives, through whom the world should recognize His love.
Our lives should reflect Christ’s character: love, mercy, and joy.

🔹 2. Dangers of Distrust and Complaint (Sections 4–8)
Satan rejoices when doubt and grumbling cloud our faith.
Rather than focusing on the “thorns” and disappointments, we should pick the “roses” along our path—being consciously aware of God’s blessings.
Sadness and complaint discourage others and do not honor God.

🔹 3. Gratitude Instead of Doubt (Sections 9–14)
When we doubt God’s love, we wound Him—like children who question their parents’ affection.
Every expression of doubt strengthens Satan’s influence; every expression of faith strengthens us and others.

🔹 4. Christian Joy in Service (Sections 15–18)
Jesus was a man of sorrows, yet He always bore peace and joy within Him.
True believers are serious but not sullen; their joy is founded on trust in God’s love.

🔹 5. God’s Care and Our Trust (Sections 19–24)
Jesus teaches us to trust God’s provision, as birds and lilies do.
Worry and anxiety darken our lives and reveal a lack of faith.

🔹 6. Courage in Trials and Keeping Our Eyes on the Goal (Sections 25–28)
Even when trials come, we may be courageous—God has helped us so far and will continue to do so.
Strength for each trial is given in proportion to the need.

🔹 7. The Glorious Inheritance of the Redeemed (Sections 29–32)
In the end we await joy, purity, and fellowship with God and the redeemed.
Already, we may live in faith of this future and taste heaven’s joy now.

This chapter teaches that:

• Christian joy is deep, steadfast, and independent of outward circumstances.

• Distrust and complaining harm ourselves and others.

• Gratitude, trust, and a focus on God’s goodness strengthen our faith.
