🌅 Devotional for the Day
The Second Coming of Jesus is not only a mighty event in the heavens, but also God’s answer to the tears of the earth. Since the fall into sin, human history has been marked by pain, loss, sickness, injustice, separation, and death. Every person knows tears, whether visible or hidden. Some are openly wept, while others remain locked within the heart. Yet God’s Word tells us: these tears will not remain forever.
Revelation 21:4 is one of the most comforting promises in the entire Bible. God Himself will wipe away every tear from the eyes of His children. These words reveal a closeness of God that touches us deeply. He does not merely send comfort from a distance. He does not leave the wounded to themselves. In divine love, He bends down to the redeemed and removes what sin, suffering, and death have caused. The God of the universe sees every tear and will one day dry them forever.
The Second Coming of Jesus opens the way to this final completion. When Christ appears, the visible fulfillment of redemption begins. The dead in Christ will rise, the living will be transformed, God’s people will be gathered, and the history of sin will move toward its end. What Revelation 21 describes is the final fruit of what Jesus accomplishes through the cross, the resurrection, and His return: a world in which death, sorrow, crying, and pain no longer have any place.
This comfort is not superficial. The Bible does not say that tears are unimportant. Nor does it say that God’s children must take everything lightly. God takes suffering seriously. That is precisely why He promises not merely relief, but complete restoration. He will not overlook some tears or leave certain wounds unattended. Every tear will be wiped away. No pain borne in Christ will be forgotten.
For the believing heart, this means that the sorrow of this world is real, but it is not final. There are nights, but God is preparing the morning. There are wounds, but God promises healing. There are farewells, but Christ brings reunion and eternal fellowship. The Second Coming of Jesus is therefore comfort for all who groan under the brokenness of this world. The coming King brings not only glory, but healing.
✨ God Sees Every Tear
Some pain remains hidden from other people. Not every sorrow finds words. Not every burden is understood. But nothing is hidden from God. He sees the tears of the grieving, the weariness of the one who struggles, the loneliness of the abandoned, and the silent longing of the heart. His promise does not merely say that tears will end, but that He Himself will wipe them away.

“Soon the heavens will open, and our Savior will appear. No human eye will fail to see this.”

When the Savior appears, His return will mark the beginning of the visible completion. The Lord who already comforts today will one day bring all suffering to an end forever. His glory is not cold and distant, but filled with saving love.
🌿 There Will Be No More Death
The promise goes deeper than a moment of comfort. God will not merely dry tears while the causes of pain remain. He will remove the causes themselves. There will be no more death. There will be no more sorrow, crying, or pain. The former things have passed away. God’s redemption does not remain on the surface, but creates a new reality.
This is important because human comfort is often limited. We can accompany one another, strengthen one another, and encourage one another, but we cannot abolish death. We can share tears, but we cannot heal every wound. God, however, will complete what no human being can accomplish. The Second Coming of Jesus leads toward the new creation, where sin and its consequences will no longer have any place.
🕊️ Hope for Wounded Hearts
Perhaps today you carry tears within you that no one sees. Perhaps there are memories, losses, or worries that weigh heavily on your heart. The hope of the Second Coming does not tell you that your pain is meaningless. It tells you: God sees it. Christ knows it. And the day is coming when it will no longer exist.
This hope helps us keep going. Not because the road is always easy, but because the destination is certain. The coming King will not only shake the powers of this world, but will also heal the hearts of His children. He will not only appear visibly, but will also touch what is hidden. He will not only bring history to its conclusion, but will lead His redeemed into a world where tears will no longer be needed.
Therefore, God’s people can live today with comfort. The tears of the present are not the final chapter. The pain of this world is not the ultimate truth. Jesus is coming again, and with His coming draws near the day when God Himself will wipe away every tear. Then comfort will no longer be only a promise, but reality in the presence of God.
🙏 Prayer
Dear Father in Heaven,
thank You that You see every tear and forget none of the pain of Your children.
Comfort my heart with the hope that Jesus is coming again and that suffering, death, crying, and pain will come to an end.
Help me not to despair in difficult times, but to look to Your promise.
Give me faith when I do not yet understand, and hope when my heart is weary.
Prepare me for the day when You will wipe away every tear and make all things new.
Amen.

- Practical: Bring one specific worry or sorrow before God in prayer today and consciously hold on to the promise: He will wipe away every tear.
