⚠️ 2 Samuel Chapter 11 – David Makes a Big Mistake

✨ When a King Leaves His Path

🌅 Introduction

Sometimes it starts very small.
A thought. A desire. A decision that at first feels harmless.

But if you do not listen to God,
a small mistake can turn into something very serious.

David was a king after God’s own heart.
But in this story he does something
that was not good – and not right.
He will try to hide it.
But God sees everything.

📖 The Biblical Story

It was spring.
The time when kings normally went to war with their soldiers.

But David had not gone with them.
He stayed at home in his beautiful palace.

One evening David went up to the roof of his house.
From there he could look over the city.

And then he saw her:
a woman who was bathing.
She was very beautiful.
Her name was Bathsheba.

David could have looked away then.
He could have remembered that she was married – to Uriah, one of his faithful soldiers.

But David wanted to have her anyway.
He had her brought to him.
And she came to him.

A short time later Bathsheba sent a message:
“I am pregnant.”

David was alarmed.
Now the people would realize what he had done.

So he came up with a plan.

He had Uriah brought back from the war.
He hoped Uriah would go home to his wife –
and then no one would notice what had really happened.

But Uriah did not go home.
He said:
“How can I sleep in my comfortable house,
while the other soldiers are outside at war?”

David tried again.
He got Uriah drunk –
but Uriah still stayed outside.

Then David made a terrible decision.
He wrote a letter to the commander Joab.

The letter said:
“Put Uriah in the most dangerous place in the battle.
And when the enemy comes, draw back.
Let him die.”

That was murder.
And the worst part: David gave the letter to Uriah himself.
The man carried his own death sentence in his hand –
and did not know it.

It happened just as David had planned.
Uriah died.

After the time of mourning, David took Bathsheba to himself.
She became his wife.

Perhaps David thought:
“Now everything is forgotten. Everything is fine.”

But God had seen everything.
And God was not pleased.

David had moved away from God’s path.
And that would not remain without consequences.

🟣 Summary

David sees a beautiful woman and makes a wrong decision.
To hide his mistake, he tries to lie and trick others.
In the end he even causes an innocent man to die.
David thinks he can hide it –
but God sees everything.

💚 Message for Children Today

Even people who love God can make mistakes.
Big mistakes.
But the most important thing is not to be perfect –
but to be honest,
to admit mistakes
and not to hurt others in order to save yourself.

God sees our hearts.
He wants us to come back to Him,
even when we have done something wrong.

💭 Reflection

🔸 Why is it so hard to admit a mistake?
🔸 What could you have done differently in David’s place?
🔸 Do you believe that God forgives you even when you make a big mistake?

💌 Invitation to 2 Samuel – Chapter 12

🔍 When God Brings a Mistake into the Light

David thought that no one had seen what he had done.
He had hidden everything – and gone on living as if nothing had happened.

But God does not forget.
And because He loved David, He sent someone
who would help him recognize the truth: the prophet Nathan.

This story shows:
God does not uncover guilt in order to punish, but in order to save.

🔔 Teaser for Chapter 12

Nathan tells the king a story.
It sounds harmless – almost like a fairy tale.

A rich man takes away the poor man’s only lamb.
David becomes angry and cries out: “The man must be punished!”

But then Nathan says:
“You are that man.”

Suddenly David understands everything.
And he realizes how far he has moved away from God.

👉 Chapter 12 shows us
how important it is to admit mistakes
and how great God’s grace is when we honestly turn back.
