πΏ Introduction
Have you ever tried assembling an IKEA piece of furniture without the instructions? It might look simple at firstβbut in the end, youβre left with five extra screws and a crooked shelf. Why? Because you didnβt follow the plan.
In a similar way, God warns Moses: βLook carefully! Build everything exactly as I showed you on the mountain.β This isnβt just any sentenceβit’s found right in the middle of the book of Hebrews, in a deep section about Godβs plan for humanity. But what does this have to do with us young people today?

β¨ Devotional
The author of Hebrews refers to a scene from the Old Testament. Moses is on Mount Sinaiβvery close to God. And what does he receive? A heavenly blueprint. God shows him a vision of the heavenly sanctuary and says:
βBuild the earthly tabernacle exactly as I show you.β
Why such precision? Because it wasnβt just a tentβit was a shadow of the heavenly reality. The earthly sanctuary was a symbol of something deeper: Jesus Christ, who now serves in the heavenly sanctuaryβright now, in this moment.
God isnβt a God of vague suggestions. Heβs a God with a precise planβfor the universe, for salvation, and for your life.
π Quote from Ellen White (from βThe Acts of the Apostlesβ, p. 15):
βGod requires of His people now as He did of ancient Israel, that they obey His instructions with exactness. There is no small matter in deviating from the pattern He has given.β
That sounds seriousβbut itβs also full of hope. Because God not only shows what not to doβHe shows the way forward. And He says to you:
βDonβt build your life on your own ideasβbuild it according to the image I show you.β

π Story
Tom, 17 years old, was always the kind of guy who went his own way. Rules? Only if they made sense. Christian faith? Nice idea, but not really relevant.
At a youth camp, a pastor said to him:
βYou know, Tom, God has a blueprint for your lifeβdo you want to see it?β
Tom laughed:
βIs it available as a PDF?β
But the question stuck.
A few weeks later, Tom began reading the Gospel of John. Then Hebrews. The words hit him hard: Jesus isnβt just some religious figureβHeβs the Way, the Truth, the Life.
Tom started to prayβfor the first time, honestly.
In a quiet moment, he felt strongly:
βI donβt want to build my own version anymore. I want to discover the real plan.β
Today Tom says:
βIβm not perfect. But I know who holds the planβand I want to stick with Him.β

π§ Reflection β What Does It Mean for You?
-
Are you following your own blueprintβor asking God for His?
-
What βcopiesβ might you be following that donβt match the original?
-
God showed Moses a heavenly pattern. Have you ever asked God what His image of your life looks like?
God invites you: Look carefully! Be intentional. Donβt build your life by accidentβbuild it with purpose, according to His design.

π‘ Action Steps for Today
β
Imagine God showed you a picture of your life today. What would be in it? Ask Him in prayer.
β
Read Exodus 25β31: What does Godβs precision tell you about His character?
β
Think about a decision youβre facingβwhat would it mean to follow Godβs plan instead of your own?

π Prayer
Father in Heaven,
You gave Moses a clear vision. You didnβt leave him in the darkβand You donβt want to leave me in confusion either.
I give You my heart, my plans, my paths.
Show me what my life could look like according to Your image.
Help me to be attentiveβnot just to build randomly, but to build with You.
I want to follow Your blueprint, step by step.
Thank You for being near.
In Jesusβ name, Amen.
