π The King Is Coming Soon β Hope Beyond the End
ποΈ April 27 β A Watchful Heart: Ready at All Times
Monthly Theme: The Signs of the Times β Watching and Praying
Yearly Theme 2026: βThe King Is Coming Soon β Hope Beyond the Endβ
π Central Bible Text of the Day
βTherefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.β
β Matthew 24:44
π Devotional of the Day
Jesus speaks again and again of a moment
that comes unexpectedly.
Not to unsettle us,
but to keep us awake.
For there is a way of living
that forgets.
And a way of living
that remembers.
A watchful heart lives in this awareness:
The Lord is coming.
β¨ Watchfulness Is More Than Attention
Watchfulness does not mean
being constantly tense
or waiting in suspense for an event.
It is an inner attitude.
A heart open to God.
A life lived consciously.
A spirit that does not fall asleep in the ordinary.
βBe sober, be vigilant.β
β 1 Peter 5:8
Ellen G. White wrote:
βWatchfulness means living with God as if every day were a preparation for His return.β
(Maranatha, p. 90)
πΏ The Quiet Danger of Everyday Life
Life is made up of many small things.
Appointments, tasks, thoughts, worries.
And therein lies a subtle danger:
that what truly matters fades into the background.
Not suddenly β
but gradually.
A watchful heart does not allow this.
It continually returns to God.
ποΈ Being Ready Without Fear
Readiness is not a state of fear,
but of connection.
Whoever lives with Christ
does not need to fear His coming.
To be ready means:
to walk with Him,
to trust Him,
to belong to Him.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βThose who live daily with Christ will be ready when He appears.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 425)
π A Life of Expectation
A watchful life is a hopeful life.
It does not look only at what is,
but at what is to come.
It does not live only for the moment,
but for eternity.
And that changes everything:
priorities, decisions, perspectives.
π Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
keep my heart awake in a world full of distractions.
Guard me from losing You in everyday life.
Teach me to live consciously with You
and to be ready at all times.
Give me a calm trust
and a living hope in Your return.
Amen.
π Thought for the Day
βA watchful heart does not live in fear, but in constant closeness to Christ.β
β Ellen G. White
π‘ Personal Application
