πŸ‘‘ The King is coming soon – Hope beyond the end

πŸ“… March 5 – The Writing on the Wall: When Grace Is Rejected

Monthly Theme: Daniel: The God Who Guides History – Faithfulness in the Furnace of Testing
Year Theme 2026: β€œThe King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End”

πŸ“– Central Bible Verse of the Day

β€œYou have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.”
β€” Daniel 5:27

πŸŒ… Devotional of the Day

The night was full of music, wine, and self-confidence.
King Belshazzar held a great feast
while the enemies were already standing at the gates of Babylon.

In the midst of the celebration, something unbelievable happened:
A hand appeared and wrote words on the wall.

β€œThen the king’s color changed,
and his thoughts terrified him.”

β€” Daniel 5:6

God had shown patience for a long time.
Belshazzar knew the story of Nebuchadnezzar.
He knew how God had acted β€”
yet he consciously chose otherwise.

✨ When Light Is Rejected

The problem was not ignorance,
but pride and indifference.

Daniel said:

β€œAnd you his son, Belshazzar,
have not humbled your heart,
though you knew all this.”

β€” Daniel 5:22

God does not judge arbitrarily.
He judges according to the light a person has received.

Ellen G. White wrote:
β€œBelshazzar had known the lessons of the past but had not heeded them. Thus his heart became hardened against the grace of God.”
(Prophets and Kings, p. 529)

🌿 The Scales of God

β€œWeighed and found wanting” β€”
these words speak not only of judgment,
but of truth.

God’s scales do not measure success or power,
but the condition of the heart.

β€œMan looks at the outward appearance,
but the LORD looks at the heart.”

β€” 1 Samuel 16:7

The question is not how great we appear,
but how much Christ lives within us.

πŸ•ŠοΈ The Seriousness of Grace

The story ends suddenly:
That very night Babylon fell.

Grace is great β€”
but it must not be postponed.

β€œToday, if you hear His voice,
do not harden your hearts.”

β€” Hebrews 3:15

Ellen G. White wrote:
β€œThe time of grace is precious. Whoever rejects the light eventually loses the ability to hear.”
(Maranatha, p. 128)

πŸŒ„ A Call to Our Hearts

The writing on the wall is still a call today:
Do not live in the intoxication of the world
as if eternity did not exist.

God invites β€”
not with threats,
but with love.

He does not want to condemn,
but to save.

πŸ™ Prayer

Dear Father in heaven,
thank You for Your patience and Your warning love.

Keep my heart from ignoring Your light.

Help me to listen to Your voice
before the opportunity passes.

Examine my heart
and shape me according to Your will.

Let me live today in Your grace
and stand before You in humility.

Amen.

πŸ’ Thought for the Day

β€œGod’s warnings are an expression of His love β€” they are meant to save, not to destroy.”
β€” Ellen G. White, Prophets and Kings

πŸ’‘ Personal Application

  1. Read Daniel 5 completely.
    What distinguishes Belshazzar from Nebuchadnezzar?

  2. Pray: β€œLord, give me a listening heart.”

  3. Practice: Take time today for honest self-examination before God β€” sincerely and without excuses.

🌺 Closing Verse

β€œSeek the LORD while He may be found;
call upon Him while He is near.”

β€” Isaiah 55:6
