Monthly theme: The heavenly judgment β justice and grace
Annual theme 2026: βThe King Is Coming Soon β Hope Beyond the Endβ
π Central Bible Text for the Day
βIn this, love has been perfected among us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.β
β 1 John 4:17
π Devotional of the Day
The thought of judgment can weigh heavily on the heart when we look only at ourselves. Anyone who knows their mistakes, feels their weaknesses, and stands honestly before God knows this: no one can stand by their own strength. But for exactly this reason, the gospel directs our eyes not to our own performance, but to Christ.
John writes that Godβs love gives us confidence in the day of judgment. This is an astonishing statement. Confidence does not mean arrogance, but trust. It is the quiet assurance that we do not stand before God alone and that our hope does not lie in ourselves.
This confidence grows where Godβs love is understood and accepted. Whoever sees God only as a strict judge will fear Him. But whoever recognizes Him as the Father who gave His Son for us learns to trust Him. Then the judgment loses its terror because it is viewed in the light of Christβs love.
Godβs love does not make the judgment unimportant. It makes it understandable. It shows us that the Judge of the universe is just, but also merciful. He knows the truth about our lives, but He also knows the sacrifice of Christ. And whoever holds on to Jesus may have peace.
β¨ Love Drives Out Fear
The Bible says: βThere is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fearβ (1 John 4:18). This does not mean that we should approach God carelessly. Reverence remains. But paralyzing fear may give way when we recognize His love.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βWhoever rests in Christ does not need to fear the judgment; for their hope lies in the righteousness of their Redeemer.β
(Steps to Christ, p. 72)
This assurance brings peace. Not because we are perfect, but because Christ is perfect.
πΏ Trust in the Intercessor
In the judgment, Jesus stands for those who trust Him. He knows their names, their struggles, and their devotion. He sees not only what they were, but what His grace has made of them.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βChrist pleads the cause of His people before the Father and points to His pierced hands.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 484)
This is the reason for our confidence. Our Intercessor bears the marks of the cross. His wounds speak louder than our guilt.
ποΈ Peace Already Today
Peace in the judgment does not begin only in the future. It may dwell in the heart already today. Whoever gives their guilt to Christ and trusts His grace does not have to live in constant uncertainty.
God does not want His children to be driven by fear. He wants them to live out of love, gratitude, and trust. The judgment reminds us that truth matters, but it also shows that grace remains the foundation of hope for the believer.
π Prayer
Dear Father in heaven,
thank You that Your love is stronger than my fear.
Help me to see the judgment in the light of the cross and to place all my hope in Jesus.
When doubts arise in my heart, remind me that Christ is my Intercessor.
Give me peace, trust, and confidence before You.
Let me live today from Your love and not from fear.
Amen.

Whoever recognizes Godβs love at the cross can face the judgment with trust.
