πŸ‘‘ The King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End

βš–οΈ June 12 – Justice and Mercy Meet

Monthly theme: The Heavenly Judgment – Justice and Grace
Theme for 2026: β€œSoon the King Is Coming – Hope Beyond the End”

πŸ“– Central Bible Text of the Day

β€œMercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed.”
β€” Psalm 85:10

πŸŒ… Devotional of the Day

One of the greatest questions in human history is this: How can a just God save sinful human beings? How can God preserve His justice and at the same time show mercy?

At first glance, this seems impossible. If God is perfectly just, He cannot simply overlook sin. But if He acted only according to strict justice, no human being would have hope. It is precisely here that the depth of the plan of redemption is revealed.

At the cross, justice and mercy met in a perfect way. There, guilt was not ignored, but borne. There, the punishment was not abolished, but taken upon Himself by Christ. God remained just and was still able to justify the sinner.

That is why we must never view the judgment apart from the cross. Those who view the judgment without the cross easily become afraid. But those who view the judgment through the perspective of the cross recognize God’s love and wisdom.

The heavenly judgment reveals exactly this truth. It shows the universe that God’s decisions are always just and at the same time full of grace. No one will be able to say that God was unfair. No one will be able to claim that His love was insufficient.

✨ The cross explains God’s character

Many people find it difficult to connect justice and love. But in God there is no contradiction.

His love does not make Him unjust, and His justice does not make Him loveless.

Ellen G. White wrote:

β€œAt the cross of Christ, justice and mercy were perfectly united.”

(The Desire of Ages, p. 762)

There it became visible how far God was willing to go in order to save His children.

🌿 The judgment reveals the truth

The judgment does not serve only to announce decisions. It reveals the character of God.

In the end, the entire universe will recognize that every action of God was marked by love, wisdom, and justice.

Ellen G. White wrote:

β€œGod’s government will be shown to be perfectly just and perfectly merciful.”

(The Great Controversy, p. 670)

This understanding will secure eternal peace in the universe.

πŸ•ŠοΈ Trusting God’s ways

We do not understand everything God does today. Some questions remain unanswered. Some experiences seem difficult to comprehend.

But the judgment will show that God has never made a mistake. His ways were always right, even when we did not always understand them.

That is why we may trust Him even today.

πŸ™ Prayer

Dear Father in heaven,

thank You that Your justice and Your mercy are perfect.

Thank You for the cross, where Your love became visible.

Help me to trust You even when I do not understand everything.

Give me a deeper view of Your character and of the greatness of Your grace.

Let my heart rest in Your love and truth.

Amen.

πŸ’ Thought for the Day

At the cross and in the judgment, God shows that His justice is always accompanied by love.

  1. Read Psalm 85:8–13.
What do you learn about the interaction between justice and mercy?
  2. Pray: β€œLord, help me to trust Your character.”
