β Revelation 14:7
π Devotional of the Day
In the midst of the prophetic messages of Revelation, a solemn call rings out to humanity. An angel flies through the sky and proclaims the everlasting gospel. His message is addressed to every people, nation, language, and person. It is remarkable that the judgment is not proclaimed separately from the gospel. It is part of the same message.
For many, this may seem surprising at first. How can judgment be good news? The answer lies in the character of God. The judgment is the public confirmation that God is just, truthful, and faithful. It shows that sin will not reign forever and that Godβs plan of redemption is moving toward its goal.
The angelβs message does not say, βBe afraid of the judgment.β It says, βFear God and give Him glory.β The focus is not first directed toward the judgment, but toward God Himself. Those who know Him understand that His judgment is an expression of His love and justice.
This message is just as relevant today as it was in the time of John. It reminds us that we live in a significant time. The history of this world is moving toward its climax. God calls people to turn to Him and place their trust in Him.
β¨ Judgment and the Gospel Belong Together
Some people imagine the gospel as grace and judgment as severity. But the Bible does not separate the two. The gospel is what makes judgment good news.
Because Christ died for us, we may face the judgment with hope.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βThe message of judgment is part of the everlasting gospel because it announces the completion of the work of redemption.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 311)
The judgment confirms that Godβs grace is effective and that His plan of salvation will succeed.
πΏ Giving Glory to God
The angel calls us to give glory to God. This means more than words. It means giving God first place in life.
When we recognize who God is and what He has done for us, our life changes. We begin to trust Him, seek His ways, and align our lives with His will.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βTo give glory to God means to reflect His character in oneβs own life.β
(Christβs Object Lessons, p. 414)
ποΈ A Message of Hope
The message of judgment is not an announcement of destruction for Godβs children. It is a message of hope. It reminds us that God remains in control and that His kingdom will soon be visibly established.
Therefore, we may live not with fear, but with confidence.
π Prayer
Dear Father in heaven,
thank You for the everlasting gospel and for the hope You give me.
Thank You that Your judgment is just and full of grace.
Help me to give You glory and to align my life with You.
Give me trust in Your guidance and joy in Your truth.
Let me live each day in the hope of Your coming kingdom.
Amen.
