🌅 Devotional of the Day
One of the most beautiful thoughts in the Bible is the truth that God does not let us appear before Him in our own imperfection. Instead, He offers us something we could never produce by ourselves: the righteousness of Christ.
From the beginning, humanity tried to cover its own guilt. After the fall, Adam and Eve sewed fig leaves together to hide their nakedness. But these self-made coverings could not solve the problem of sin. God Himself had to provide a true covering.
This image runs throughout the entire Bible. Again and again, God shows that redemption does not happen through human effort, but through His grace. The white garments spoken of in Revelation represent the perfect righteousness of Jesus. They are a gift from heaven.
When the judgment takes place, the decisive question will not be whether we were flawless. The decisive question will be: Have we accepted Christ? Have we allowed His righteousness to cover our guilt?
✨ Not Our Own Righteousness
Many people spend their lives trying to prove themselves. Even in faith, the temptation can arise to try to secure acceptance with God through personal performance.
But the gospel leads us onto another path.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“The righteousness of Christ alone can enable us to stand before God.”
(Steps to Christ, p. 63)
This truth removes from us the burden of having to save ourselves.
🌿 A Gift of Grace
The white garments are not earned. They are given as a gift. Christ offers His perfect righteousness to every person.
This does not mean that our lives remain unchanged. Whoever accepts Christ will also be transformed. But the foundation of our acceptance with God always remains His grace.

“The white garments are the symbol of Christ’s pure character, credited to the believer.”

🕊️ With Peace into the Judgment
Whoever trusts in Christ may face the judgment with peace. Not because they have done everything right, but because Jesus has accomplished everything.
The white garments remind us that our hope does not lie in ourselves. It lies in the Redeemer who died for us and who today intercedes for us.
🙏 Prayer
Dear Father in heaven,
thank You for giving me the righteousness of Christ.
Thank You that I do not have to trust in my own performance, but in Your perfect work of redemption.
Help me to live daily from Your grace and to place my hope in Jesus alone.
Keep me from pride and self-reliance, and teach me to look to You.
Thank You for the white garments of salvation.
Amen.

In the judgment, the one who stands is not the one who trusts in themselves, but the one who is clothed in Christ’s righteousness.
